Newspaper Cutting - Convoy Promotes Road Safety Awareness
BINTULU: A convoy was launched at the Bintulu Resident’s office yesterday to promote road safety awareness.
The Borneo Proton Owners Club (BPOC), Proton Edar, big bikers and various government agencies took part in the convoy, which stopped at Mile 8 and Mardiah Resort to distribute goodies.
“This is a simple way to show our concern, which carries a simple yet a very meaningful message that everyone should look after one another,” said Bintulu Resident Muhamad Yakup Kari, who is Road Safety Council Bintulu Division chairman, during the launching.
“It is our collective responsibility and not just that of the police or other relevant agencies.”
He said every fatal traffic accident brings so much pain and suffering to the families left behind.
Everyone needs to work together to raise awareness of road safety especially during the festive season, he said.
He called on those driving long distance for Gawai Dayak and the school holidays to stay safe and always think of their loved ones.
“Let us fulfil our children’s wish to have a beautiful break in our home towns by taking care of their safety during the long journey,” he said.
