KOTA SAMARAHAN, 24 Oct: Sarawak Deputy Premier, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas is optimistic that the appointed rescue contractor will be able to complete the connecting road project between Kampung Tanjong Bako and Kota Samarahan within the period set by the Sarawak Government. According to him, the seven kilometer long new road construction project implemented by Avinn Engineering Services Sdn. Bhd. needs to be expedited to ensure that it can become an important alternative route for the people of Kuching and Samarahan. "This project is very important to facilitate movement between the two areas. I want issues related to construction materials such as sand and soil to be dealt with immediately so that the progress of the project is not interrupted," he said. He said this when met after a working visit to the road construction project site on Friday. Uggah also informed that the physical progress of the project has now reached 28 percent, but he urged that improvements in terms of manpower and the use of machines be increased to ensure that the project is completed on schedule. For the record, the project worth more than RM106.9 million is expected to be fully completed in July 2027.-TVS
