KUCHING, Oct 26: Sarawak's Public Works Department (JKR) will ensure that every development project in the region is implemented more efficiently, with quality and directly benefits the people. Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said, the successful implementation of various infrastructure projects in Betong Division proved the high efficiency and teamwork spirit among JKR citizens. According to him, the close cooperation and efficiency of JKR Betong officers and staff is greatly appreciated, especially in dealing with the challenges of project implementation during the monsoon season. "Thank you to JKR Betong for all the cooperation, support and efficiency in dealing with project issues including during the rainy season. The efficiency of this team allows the road to be completed earlier and the people are happy when their infrastructure is upgraded," he said.
He said this while speaking at the JKR Betong Division Tea Party in Kuching, on Saturday. Uggah, who is also Sarawak's Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, explained that the Sarawak Government is confident in the ability of JKR Sarawak to implement various major projects, including road upgrading work around the Betong Division. He added that the confidence was based on JKR's excellent performance record which successfully completed projects on schedule and complied with the high standards set by the Sarawak Government. "The international recognition received by JKR Sarawak in Amsterdam recently is evidence of the local department's ability to compete and play an important role at the global level," he said. In the meantime, he reminded all JKR citizens to continue to maintain the spirit of teamwork, commitment and discipline to ensure that every development project has a positive impact on the well-being of the people and the economic growth of the state.-TVS
