KUCHING (Oct 26): The Sarawak government will continue to strictly enforce the ‘One-Month Pledge’ policy to ensure that issues and delays in public infrastructure projects are resolved within a reasonable timeframe, said Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
He pointed out that this policy reflects the government’s determination to improve project efficiency, accountability, and timely delivery for the benefit of the people.
“Our responsibility is not merely to complete projects, but to ensure that their implementation meets international quality standards and delivers real benefits to the people,” he said, according to a Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak press release posted on the department’s Facebook page.
He was speaking at the JKR Team Building: Raban Empowerment – Strengthening Team Spirit programme in Betong yesterday, which was also attended by JKR Sarawak director Datu Dr Cassidy Morris.
Uggah, who is Infrastructure and Port Development Minister, also reminded JKR Sarawak to utilise its budget fully and manage it with integrity and world-class standards.
He commended the department for successfully implementing 423 development projects across the state.
“This achievement is a clear testament to efficiency, dedication and strong work ethic of JKR personnel in realising the state’s development agenda.
“I am very grateful for the hard work and commitment shown by all parties for the people of Sarawak,” he said.
He added that this achievement should serve as an inspiration to further strengthen the department’s performance, in line with JKR Sarawak’s ‘We Build for You’ vision.
Uggah also lauded JKR Sarawak’s international recognition at the recent 2025 Bentley Infrastructure Awards in Amsterdam, noting that the honour demonstrates the department’s ability to compete globally in the engineering and infrastructure sectors.
The JKR Team Building: Raban Empowerment programme served as a platform to strengthen team spirit, discipline, and unity among JKR personnel, in line with efforts to build a resilient and united workforce towards achieving Sarawak’s goal of becoming a developed state by 2030.
