KUCHING, Nov 12: 

A total of 27 rural bridges have been tendered and five are currently under construction across Kuching, Serian, Kapit, Miri, Sibu and Sarikei Through the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak's Rural Bridge Transformation Programme (PTJLB)

In a statement, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the initiative demonstrates the Sarawak Governments's continued commitment to strengthening rural connectivity and public safety through the systematic upgrading and replacement of ageing bridges.

"The effort to upgrades and replace these ageing  bridges are important to ensure that rural people enjoy safe, modern and sustainable transportation facilities," he said

The initiative also supports the aspirations of the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which aims to provide rural communities with quality and resilient basic infrastructure. - DayakDaily
