SRI AMAN, Oct 21: Batang Lupar Bridge Project No. 2 which is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Sarawak is now showing positive development when it recorded a physical progress of 72.57 percent so far. Sarawak Public Works Director, Datu Dr. Cassidy Morris said that the work progress achieved shows the high commitment of all parties involved including the main contractor, site engineer and consultant team in ensuring that the project runs smoothly and is completed according to the schedule set in March 2026. "This project is on the right track with a satisfactory level of progress. The focus is now on ensuring that aspects of quality, safety and site work coordination continue to be at an optimal level," he said in a statement after his work visit to the Batang Lupar 2 Bridge project site on Tuesday. He explained, Batang Lupar Bridge Project No. 2 which crosses Sungai Batang Lupar was built with a length of 870 meters using a cable-stayed design, in addition to involving the construction of a 2.2 kilometer connection road in both directions to complete the coastal link network. He also expressed his appreciation for the efforts of contractors who give priority to the use of local labor, which not only helps generate the local economy, but also opens up opportunities for the transfer of technology in the field of modern engineering and construction.
He is confident that when fully completed, this bridge will become a new landmark in the central region of Sarawak and strengthen connectivity between Betong, Sri Aman and Samarahan Divisions, thus supporting the socio-economic growth of coastal areas.-TVS
